Help me with the 3Jam fixed number texting service

Some common questions we have received:

1. Can I change the number?

You can request one from 3Jam.

2. Can I change my email address?

You can do that in your account at 3jam.com

3. How do I log into my 3Jam account?

Go to www.3jam.com and click forgot password to get your login.

4. What is my number?

Send a text from your Peek to a phone, and it will show up.

5. What if someone texts my OLD number, the one I used before I got the fixed number?

It won’t work! You need to tell people you’ve changed over

6. Can people text me from another Peek?

Yes

7. Can people text me from Google Voice?

Yes

8. Can I text to a short code ?

No.

9. What about Twitter’s 40404?

Working on it – try it.

10. You don’t have my area code. What do I do?

It means we are out. You can wait a while, or just go for a nearby place.

11. Where do I get help from 3Jam?

Email them to support at 3jam dot com or visit their website at www.3jam.com for the latest.

12. What if I change my email address?

If you change your primary email address on your Peek – the email that is listed first in the list of Email Accounts in Peek Manager – you will break the link with 3Jam’s fixed number. You need to update 3Jam if you change this. Watch out when deleting email accounts from your Peek.

How do I re-activate my Peek?

If you have let your Peek account lapse, you can re-activate it easily.

Go to http://activate.getpeek.com if it has been a long while — if your account is officially inactive.

If it hasn’t been too long, you can probably use your primary Peek email account (the top one on your Peek’s Email Accounts screen) to log into http://account.getpeek.com

That way you can enter your payment details, choose your plan, and get going!

Here is the screen you’ll see when you log into your account. You can even choose a Lifetime or Annual plan from this screen.

Upgrading to the latest Peek software. How do I do it?

The latest version if Peek Pronto Final — software version 1.09.20.

What are the dimensions of the device?

Peek is about 4 inches by 2.7 inches and weighs 109 grams. It is only 0.42 inches thick—the thinnest handheld mobile device out there!

Are there different font sizes?

Peeks with software version 1.09 or later have a bold font option that makes emails very easy to read!

Does my Peek have a contact book? Can I import contacts from my webmail accounts?

Yes. We support downloading contacts from Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, and AOL accounts. HOWEVER your contacts list will actually build itself as you send emails with your Peek. Whenever you send a mail – whether it’s a new mail or a reply – your recipients will be automatically saved in your Contacts list. So after just a few days of usage, you should be pretty close to a fully comprehensive list!

Is my email address supported by Peek?

Peek supports most popular email providers, including Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and AOL. Here’s a list of some of the other more popular address types we’re compatible with:

They are few and far between, but there are some email domains that we cannot support at this time, such as Novell Groupwise and Lotus Notes. Some providers only allow checking email on a mobile device like the Peek if you pay for premium membership, such as PeoplePC®.

Is there synching between Peek and my webmail/Outlook?

No. Reading or deleting your emails on your Peek will not sync with your webmail account. We know that some of you prefer synching so we are considering offering that option sometime in the future! Keep the feedback coming to feedback@getpeek.com!

My email address has an obscure or little-known domain. Can Peek work for me?

Yes, it definitely can. When activating your Peek, just submit your existing email address and password and we’ll try to guess your POP3 settings automatically. If you have any trouble, just call us at 877-677-PEEK and we’ll help you set it up. If you have a corporate mail account or some other type we don’t currently support, you can have your work e-mail forwarded to a free web email account like gmail, which will not cause you any noticeable delays. Just make sure it’s ok with your company IT guy!

What if I don’t have an email account?

No problem! Most peeksters register a Gmail account. You can create one by going to http://www.gmail.com. If you call us at Care (877-677-PEEK), we’d happy to help you set it up, or we can create a mypeekmail.com account for you.

How do I know if I can receive Peek network service?

Peek service runs on a prominent nationwide network service, so most rural areas should be covered! If you’d like to double-check, give us a call at 1-877-677-PEEK (7335) and we’ll be happy to let you know.

How do I set up my Peek?

Use your Peek’s Scroll Wheel to move your cursor between the fields of the registration screen. Just enter your name and your existing email address & password in the corresponding fields of the ‘Go’ screen and select ‘Submit.’ Once we validate your email address and password, you’ll be taken to your Peek’s main page – your Inbox. Once there you’ll be able to start sending and receiving emails right away. That’s it!

Once I’m set up, when will I start receiving emails on my Peek?

As soon as you register an email address, it immediately becomes active on your Peek. You should start receiving emails in minutes! To get you started, your Peek will also automatically download the last five emails from your existing inbox prior to successful registration.

I have multiple email accounts registered on my Peek… aren’t there separate inboxes?

Actually, Peek makes things simple for you by having all your mail flow into one inbox. Imagine that! No need to check separate inboxes! If you’re not sure which email was sent to which email account, all you have to do is check the “To” field. And don’t worry, when you respond, your Peek will automatically reply with the correct email address!

What is Peek’s return/warranty policy?

If you purchased your device directly from getpeek.com and you are unsatisfied with your purchase for any reason, just call Customer Care within 30 days from the date of purchase to request a Return. We will issue you a full refund on the device once the product is returned and verified to be in good condition. If you bought your Peek from Target or another retail chain, please refer to their specific return policy.

If the Peek you have purchased stops working properly within 1 year of when you first activate it due to a defect in manufacturing, we will gladly replace it with a new or refurbished device. Just call 1-877-677-PEEK to issue an Exchange. Peek’s One Year Warranty policy does NOT cover devices that have stopped working due to customer abuse.

All returns and exchanges require a Return to Manufacturer Authorization (RMA) number. Just call 1-877-677-PEEK (7335) and our Customer Care team will be happy to issue a RMA number. Your RMA Number is valid for 10 days from the date of issue. Products shipped after 10 days will be kept by Peek and no refund or exchange will be given.Please note that if you bought your device from Costco, then your RMA number will be provided to you by Costco. You are still required to send it in with the RMA.

Please remember that, regardless of where you bought your Peek, you must call Care before your recurring billing date to ensure that you do not keep getting billed. Returning the device does not mean that your service is automatically canceled.
